"Moving Stills" Video Montage

Give them the gift of memories with a "Moving Stills' Video Montage

So, How does it work?

Before we can start working on your Video Montage, some work is required on your part (nothing very strenuous though ...really!). In fact, "preparation" would be a more accurate term. After a few simple steps, you can be on your way to receiving your very own personalized "Moving Stills" Video Montage.

STEP 1: Decide what type of Video Montage you want
You should be clear in your mind what it is that your Video Montage is for. Is it to celebrate a person's life (either living or passed) or is it to celebrate a birthday or anniversary? Is it for a Mother's Day or Father's Day gift? Is it a tribute to an friend, institution or club? Is it to capture the memories of a favorite vacation or holiday? A family reunion? A promotional business presentation?... The list goes on. Try and decide what sort of an impact you want the viewer to have when they watch it (ie. joy, laughter, reflection, for example).Once you are clear on this step, you can move on to step 2.
STEP 2: Organize!
It is important to take your time and sort through your photos and choose the ones that best fit in with your conclusion from step 1. Once you have chosen all of the photos you want to use, take the time and order them in the order that you wish to see them in the Video Montage. This may be chronological (or not... depending on what it is you are trying to create). Try to pick photos that are not damaged too much and are not cut up into odd shapes.
STEP 3: Audio Decision

Once you have your photos/video clips organised, you need to decide on what the soundtrack is going to be for your Video Montage. Let us know if you have some music in mind that you would like for the soundtrack (you must own an original copy of the music - we can not use soundtracks from a "burned CD" due to copyright issues), otherwise, we will be happy to make some suggestions.

[If you don't have any music ideas for your Video Montage, RDM recommends The Music Bakery. At The Music Bakery, they offer a vast range of royalty free music for sale. If you decide that there is some music there that you would like to use, RDM will purchase it (thus, enabling us to include it in your Video Montage). If we purchase any music from The Music Bakery for inclusion in your production, there will be an administration fee added to your invoice. (The administration fee is 50% of the purchase price). You can listen to their vast range of music here: http://musicbakery.com/royalty-free-music-download.htm. If there is some music that you would like included in your Video Montage, contact us with the name of the piece of music so that RDM can purchase it.]

If you still have trouble thinking of a soundtrack for your Video Montage, and none of the above options apply, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss it with you further.

STEP 4: Outline
Briefly outline all of your conclusions from the first three steps. You should include a title, a description of what you wish your Video Montage to be like, any instructions on text that you wish to appear in the Video Montage. If you are including "voice over"* audio clips, describe where you want them to appear (if you have a preference). Order of the photos and of the music (if more than one piece of music).
STEP 5: Send us your files

That pretty much concludes the preparation on your part. From this point on, once we receive all the relevant files and information, it is up to Richland Digital Media to create your personalized Video Montage. So, how do you send your files to us? Well, there are several different ways. The preferred method, is by uploading them to us on the internet, using our upload form. This is the quickest method and poses least risk to your photographs.

Digital photographs are, obviously, not much of a problem as you can just point to the photo files on your computer and add them to the upload. If you only have physical photographs, however, you will have to take another couple of additional steps to send them via upload:

  1. Either, scan them to create a digital file (usually what is called a .jpg or .jpeg file*) and send them to us via the upload form. If you don't have a scanner, then here is an alternative:
  2. Take your photos to your local photo store or large retailer (such as Wal Mart, for example). Many of these stores will be able to scan your photos (or develop a film, or take from photograph negatives) and put them into digital format for you on a CD. All you would need to do then is to put the CD into your computer and upload the files to us on the upload form from there, or send us the CD.)

Any text information you need to send you can send as an attachment in .txt or .doc format* - or just type it into the text area on the upload form.

If you would rather send your photographs and information via the mail, then that is certainly an option as well. RDM does not recommend that you send your original photographs, however, unless you are very happy to do so. Richland Digital Media will take every care with your photographs but cannot be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur in the process. We highly recommend that you send copies, wherever possible, and send originals via insured mail. If you mail us your photographs, please be sure to include prepaid envelopes for their return. They will be returned separately from your completed DVD/VHS Video Montage.

If you still have questions about how to get your photos/files to us, please contact us.

STEP 6Richland Digital Media creates your Video Montage
Once we have all the necessary information to start, we will put together your Video Montage. When we have the final draft, we will make this available for you to view online. At this point, you should inform us of any changes that you would like to see. Several minor changes are expected and will be made free of charge but any major changes at this point, may incur a re-draft fee* - depending on the complexity of the changes. This is why it is so important for you to concentrate on steps 1-4 from the very beginning. Once any changes have been made, the final draft will be re-uploaded for your inspection. Once you are happy with the Video Montage, we will close all editing files and render the production. We will then send you your completed Video Montage on DVD or VHS (whichever you have specified) and return any physical items you may have sent to us.
 STEP 7: Payment

So how much does all this cost, no one has mentioned anything about payment yet?  Our package and pricing information can be found HERE. Once you have chosen a package and uploaded/sent your files to us, we will start work on your Video Montage as soon as we have received payment. You can pay from the package and pricing information page if you wish.

  Our 100% Money Back Guarantee

It is important to us, as a business, to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the Video Montage that we create for you. We will work with you along the way to make sure that what you get is better than what you want. We offer a 100% money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied with your Video Montage. If we cannot resolve any issues you are unhappy with, for any reason, you are entitled to a complete refund of your payment. Even if you have asked us to purchase some music from The Music Bakery, you will have our administration fee for that purchase returned to you! Please be aware that you have the right to cancel at any time prior to your DVD being sent to you. Once you have viewed your finalized Video Montage online and confirmed finalization instructions to us, we are unable to offer any money back once your Video Montage has been sent, unless it is due to a problem with the actual DVD or VHS cassette itself (ie. there is a technological problem with viewing the media). This is, unfortunately, due to a very small minority of people who have in the past, received their Video Montage, copied it, and then sent it back to get their money back. We realize that most people aren't like that but we hope you can understand why we have this policy in place.

Confused? Then contact us directly so that we can help you through the process step by step. It is our goal at Richland Digital Media to ensure that every customer will be exceptionally satisfied with their intended purchase. Contact us, at any time, for free and friendly help or advice with regard to any of your media needs.

*If there is anything here that you don't understand, please take a look at the FAQ page to see if your question can be answered there. If not, please contact us using the contact form from the menu on the left.
